Senior Buyer Tomatoes

Thanet Earth is the UK’s first large greenhouse development growing tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers for the main supermarket chains and food service sectors. The first 25 hectares of glass started production in spring 2009 with hi tech greenhouses and all the latest growing techniques to ensure we deliver great quality and outstanding value. What’s really unique about the project though is that three of Holland’s most talented grower businesses, Rainbow, Redstar and A&A, have partnered up with Fresca, the UK’s leading private Fresh Produce Marketing company to create a brand new supply company, Thanet Earth Marketing through which all the development production is routed to market.

Not even a year old, the business has been successful securing significant programmed sales for both home grown and winter imports. With ambitious plans for further development, we’re now ready to take the business to the next level and this has led to the creation of two new important positions in the Commercial business.

Working for the Commercial Manager, this role will have responsibility for managing the procurement and supply chain for all additional product supply. Based at the Thanet Earth operation near Margate in Kent and just metres away from our core production, the Senior Buyer will also work very closely with the site growers to coordinate production volumes and align this with anticipated orders. We also work with a dynamic group of support growers throughout Europe and their on-going management and development will also be a key objective for the position.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic and creative European Salads trader with direct experience of working with the UK market. They’ll also have demonstrable success with developing supply relationships and product innovation with grower companies around Europe. But most of all, they’ll have a passion for the product and the business and be ready to use this to take their career to senior management level.
